I always felt funny about throwing personal papers in garbage at Kinko’s. Now I know why. This “rube” at Found At Kinko’s collects Kinko’s detritus to share with the world. Seems so wrong. Yet I did go through all 5 pages. I see a bright future in The Ministry Of Information.

You non-criminal types..wait a minute nowdays criminals are students of the law, hunh? For those interested in legal matters Coleslaw is a meta tumblr chock full of legal info. Online since March 08 and aimed at entry level/college student. (Yes I added some googly eyes to the slaw. What can I say it was frightening me. Many people have been choked by unexpected slaw. This way I know where I stand at all times.)

Last.FM Spirals I think using computing to make beautiful visualizations is the future. Especially when those visualizations give us new information. I am not really certain as to what can be deduced by Last.fm spirals. Hey Matt lay of the Wang Chung!

Used to be a great search service that worked so well. Lately…meh. The search is well..useless for tumblrs. But I still love a UI that says “release the spiders”.

Something sticky, twiney, delish, social appness

Hello all, I have been recently quite excited about the work of a one Topherchris on “tumblrists.com”. (Right now offline.) But you can sign up to tumblrist.com it’s the best resource community for tumblrs that I have seen to date. But what I cought a glimpse of was a sematanticly driven relational database for tumblrs. That was cool. Give me more. (pant pant)

Yeah so I was all commited to continue my research into wonderful tumblrs. But then I lost all of my Firefox bookmarks. So my cache of sweet blogs is gone. The Tumblr community reached out to me but they are still looking pretty gone. So there you have it. Tear..sniffle.

Followers and Visitors

Hiya-

I little note about “Tumblrd”:

I made this site as a response to the lack of ways to find out about fellow tumblrs. About 4 months ago Tumblr started making changes to it’s software. So I “paused” on this site. The follow feature puts other peoples post inside your dashboard, and this code puts thier avatars on your front page, furthermore there is now a map that directs you to local tumblogs.

All that to say I still enjoy reviewing a few tumblrs now and then. So I am starting back up. One of my desires is to create a community of other tumblrs who would contribute to this. But the community thing is a little overdone for me right now, I don’t know what that would look like, and I really don’t have the time and will.

Oh, I removed the feed from my flickr acount that had visted your dashbaords with my cups and kids. When I started this site it made sense to me, but it it doesn’t so much now.

*Dreams* appears to be a commercial venture from (spanish?) Kii web childrens merchandise. I think it is very well done as tumblr venture, in that were I a young parent I would add the RSS feed and let it serve me up great product ideas like the designer ducks shown. The products and links featured on this tumblr are innovative, hip, and fun which is the value of the feed. On the blog I came across this item which makes me both confused and disturbed.

The New and Improved Tumblr?

Well whenever there is a major change everyone gripes because it is not convenient. I am glad that it is a work in progress bigger simpler design is good and I love the Tumblr ap- it is cool and has not stopped being so -BUT a couple items seem like we went backwards:

1) How many people perpetually login to the sign up form? (“Me..” Hand up sheepish look on face)

2) How do you logout? Oh instead of simplifying it they ADDED and EXTRA STEP. Nice.

3) Where is the explanation of the new “channels” button. Oh, I am expected to intuitively know, oh I am supposed to comb the internet for an explanation, how convenient.

4) (Biggest peave) Where is that cool little flower logo? Is this the prep for the sale? Like painting your house beige and removing the furniture so it will sell?

5) Read this quote from the help file:

“Where can I see some tumblelogs in action? Check out the “Featured tumblelogs” on the Tumblr home-page to see how some people are using their tumblelogs.”

Ahhh..there not there any more, might want to update the help when you publish changes ya’ think?
